After I dropped Michael off, I was riding down a fairly busy road, on my way to work and I saw this little tiny 'thing' walking down the road-it was a dog (go figure). I realized it was a dog and all that went through my mind was "holy crap, i'm about to see this dog get hit by a car!" So I pull over, the dog looks at me and starts running my way, I open my car door and in she jumps.
Most precious face you've ever seen? Thought so.
I name her Lucy. When Lucy jumped in the car, she was muddy from head to toe, way too skinny, toenails that hadn't been cut in forever, a collar on so tight it was imprinted into her skin (when I took her collar off you could literally hear it peel off) and she was dragging a long heavy chain that was weighing her down. She was also soaking wet, making it apparent that she had been through the storm that night.
I brought Lucy to work with me, because I couldn't find it in my heart to take her to the pound. (I have never and will never pound a dog, I think it's WRONG and if you can't care for a dog then don't get one) anyways.
We fed Lucy (obvious she hadn't eaten in a while) and bathed her. She had the sweetest spirit and just wanted to be loved so badly!
I found a family from my church who wanted to take in Lucy! YAY! (I have 3 or I would have!)
Then, I woke up to a text yesterday morning saying Lucy ran away when they let her out to potty in the back yard!
I worried, and worried, and worried, all. day. long.
I called the pounds, the vets, and blasted lucy's description and picture all over facebook. The day went on, no Lucy.
On my way to workout someone called me from a number I didn't know (her name was Brandie), the first thing I said was "OMG someone found Lucy!" so I answered the phone and the conversation went like this:
Me: Hello?! :)
Brandie: Hi! Is this Whitney!?
Me: Yes!
Brandie: I think I found your dog!
Me: Really!?
Brandie: Yes! She wandered up to the bank and I picked her up and took her to the vet to see if she had a microchip and they said you had actually called and they saw her picture on Facebook!
..How insane is that? As scared for little Lucy as I was. I kept saying all day "I believe Lucy is okay! In the name of Jesus I WILL find her!"
I went and got Lucy, and she is safe and sound with her new family. In order to keep her from jumping the fence again, when she goes out to potty she will be on a LEASH.
PLEASE pray Lucy stays safe and happy! She doesn't realize how blessed she is ;) Afterall, she's never had a home and didn't know what love was. But she does now!

Aww what a sweet story. I'm glad there are people out there like you who will take animals in. ( I too hate the pound!) And I can't stand to see stray animals. It breaks my heart. I hope Lucy loves her new home, with he new family. She is lucky to of found you!
