decisions, decisions..

In case you haven't realized, Michael and I are movers.

In every aspect of life, Michael is one of those "Hey we're young let's just do it!" kind of people. He can think of something, and 5 minutes later he is on his way to doing it. When it comes to moving, I'm the same way. I'm blaming this partially on my parents.

When I was little I lived in our first house from the time I was born, until I was about 6 years old. When I was 6 we moved into our second home [let's call the neighborhood 'H'] which was in 'H', which was the neighborhood across from our first house. We lived there from the time I was 6 until I was about 9. When I was 9 we moved in to our second house in 'H', yes- they same neighborhood.. Only about 5 streets away. We lived there until I was about 12 or so, and moved into our THIRD house in 'H', this time- Only 3 doors down and across the street. Woo!

My parent's and Hanna still live there.

When I was 18 I moved into an apartment with a friend for like 3 months..Not even OUT of neighborhood 'H', HA! What can I say? It had all I needed, tanning bed, apartments, my high school and a heck of a nice/safe neighborhood :)

After about 3 months I moved into another apartment, OUT of 'H' which Michael co-signed with me but didn't 'live' there. We lived there for about 2 months after we got married, and then we moved in to my parent's basement to save up money to get a house, or a nicer apartment. I didn't last long living with my parents while I was married, So-- We moved again! November 2009, AND we are still there in our CUTE little apartment!

What can I say? I'm a house hopper, I can admit that.

All of this goes to say, Our rent is outrageous, we can afford it, but it's not giving us the space to save for OUR first home and still have a life. So, as you saw our plan yesterday- We have a goal. And we're sticking to it. I am NOT buying a house until I am debt free, and I know we will be rewarded for staying IN God's will.

So we have these options, and I need your help:

1.) Move soon into another apartment [the first apartment I live in, in H of course! ;)] and be able to save sooner, breaking our lease and possibly having to pay to get out, and then a deposit + pet fee to move.

2.) Wait til November when our lease is up and losing the oppurtunity to save about $600 but also not having to pay a fee to get out of our lease.

3.) Stay where we are all together, so we don't move..AGAIN, until we find our home. [Needless to say, this isn't a big option]

So, I need you're help and I LOVE you for your opinions!

Hi Whitney! :)
I am getting ready to move myself - across a few states - so I'm in the same boat as you as far as which option to take that won't end up costing us a crap ton o' money but at the same time putting us into a better position. From what you said, I am thinking that either option two or option three would be better. I would say either option one or three. If you are able to save sooner, it would be worth it to get into a better situation despite the minimal cost initially. The third sounds good too...but if you are anything like me you may find yourself disgruntled the whole time you are staying in a place you don't really like.

Haha so I see that google didn't delete what I wanted it to. CORRECTION to my post above - I would choose option one or three

haha! Thanks! it's not that I wouldn't like living there, I liked it, but it's not AS roomy, but its also $150 cheaper a month, and $150 does make a difference in my world!

Even though it wouldn't by me a cute handbag... haha!

Ha! Oh Whitney your comment above is cracking me up :) How much is the pay out fee? Did I miss that? IF that is minimal, then I would say saving $150 a month can add up fast in the long run. LOVE your goals, girl. Keep it up!
